國際標準化組織 (ISO) 各技術委員會或分技術委員會秘書處在發行新的國際標準時，針對一些議題會發出解釋或說明性的文件，其文件編號大致以技術委員會編號起頭，加上 N 及流水號，例如：ISO 9001 品質管理標準由國際標準化組織第 176 技術委員會第 2 分技術委員會 (ISO/TC 176/SC 2) 負責，其通告文件編號為：ISO/TC 176/SC2/Nxxxx。
